Dark Side Of The Moon and Other Myths

There is no moon light, it is reflected sun light.

The sun does not rise or set. The Earth is rotating around a stationary object of this solar system.

The entire moon is dark, there is no dark side.

The moon rotates with the Earth. We see the same side all the time, the angle changes and the sun lights it differently.

The moon not only effects the tides, it effects people. You are taller on the nights of a full moon due to the gravitational pull.

There is more crime under a full moon. It doesn't necessarily effect the brain, it's just that criminals can see more.

There is no center of the universe, it is continually expanding and center is an ever changing point.

The universe works on a vast time scale of billions of years. It is quite possible that we are alone in the universe at this time. Even on this planet kingdoms and empires missed each other.

By the same logic, concerning an infinite number of planets and solar systems, there could be millions of civilizations but not necessarily at our level.

The light you see from stars is millions of years old.

Light from the sun travels approximately eight minutes before you see it.

You don't actually see a sunrise or sunset. The refraction through the earth's atmosphere distorts your view.

Unless a meteor is on a center collision course with the earth, a lot of small stuff skips off the top of the atmosphere, the way a stone skips across water.

Stars do not twinkle and flicker in outer space. It's only the debris and atmosphere that makes it seem so when looking from the Earth.

Hi Octavia.

I've often wondered why we stick with saying such things as "the sun sets" but I think it's easier than saying "the earth has rotated so that the portion of it which we are currently inhabiting is not longer exposed to the radiation from the sun." :)

Personally, I enjoy the refraction of the earth's atmosphere. Actually, I enjoy the atmosphere even more. :) You know, without it ... yada, yada, yada.

I think I was nine years old when I figured out that the moon had to rotate once per orbit around the earth. That would be the only way, after all, that we would always see the same side of it. I thought that was pretty odd at the time and that it was maybe a good argument for God. I mean, what were the odds that it would end up that way and we'd be here to experience it?

I did enjoy your article. I love fun facts.

Hugs,

Dianne

We see beautiful colour in the universe from NASA'S photos right? Yet when we look up at night we see nothing but darkness. Why is that?

And how can the moon which can be in full view in front of our eyes at night be bright, lit up by the suns rays that travel to it, yet we look up to this moon and see no suns rays which are reflecting off it. Its completly dark.

Light travels carrying with it, the suns rays yet the night sky is dark with a bright moon.

No, its not the suns light that lights up the moon.

And the sun is very very small because it can only light half the Earth at one time. The moon's light comes from false light from satelites, not the sun.

There are many worlds in all universes, its just that we cannot see them from here.

A true world is a spiritual sphere that creates and radiates outward its own light and heat and doesn't rely on a sun for light.

A planet is a physical body that doesn't create its own light or heat and relies on a sun

for light and heat. That's why without the sun, the earth is total darkness in space.
