Equality? Not Yet But There's This Nasty Man . . .

There is an old man in Utah (No, this isn't the start of a limerick or a bad joke) who is trying to have banned special "Ladies Days" at bars, garages and any public place saying this is not legal, that it's sex discrimination.

This man is Steve Horner. He is 63. He lives in Utah but his campaign for equality crosses state lines, into my precious Nevada. Let me state this one more time -- he lives in Utah. I'm sure there are so many other women/children/equality issues in Utah to take up this man's time that he should leave Nevada alone. Utah is next door to Nevada, but it's also shares a border with Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and one of the Four Corners Monument just touching New Mexico. Let's face it, picking on Nevada and Las Vegas makes for better publicity. Obviously, shouting discrimination in Idaho will get him nothing but laughs -- it's Idaho. Wyoming is busy housing survivalist communities and the only equality there centers around who loads the rifles and who makes dinner. Colorado has better things to do and New Mexico would take back it's corner if possible, trying to keep a respectable distance from someone with no life and a penchant for non-issues. Notice this man does not provoke other men, religious sects or political parties. Women are an easy target. We try to be nice and when men don't get their way, they label us as bitches or lesbians. It's difficult to fight with this man's tiny mind, just finding any kind of brain takes so long.

His naivete at the very idea that men and women are equal, and should be treated so, is asinine. I would LOVE for men and women to be equal but we're talking apples and oranges, the scales will always be swinging back and forth on every issue between the sexes. And we're talking sexes here. That's what the division is all about in this issue. He's not trying to level the playing field for rich or poor, smart or stupid, or even the good looking against ugly. It's men and women. There is no equality.

Apparently, Mr. Horner's issue is about women getting a break, at least financially, in the social world. He doesn't like Ladies Night, or Ladies Day at designated businesses, or women getting something because we are women. I think he was rejected by so many women that he just got mean. Hey, Mr. Horner (what a great name for this repressed man), these are private businesses that can pick and choose what they serve, who they serve and their promotions. It's along the lines of "no shirt, no shoes, no service" and the ever popular "we have the right to refuse service to anyone." Oh, boo, hoo, as a man you've finally gotten a taste of the inequality of the sexes. Poor guy, reality bites . . . you on the ass this time!

To really simplify this inequality issue, women have NEVER been paid equally for their work compared to men. Never have. Probably never will. This alone should not only guarantee women free drinks FOR LIFE, but men should have to pay more to make up the difference. This Utah guy does not understand that it's not that women are getting a reduced price or free drinks, it's that it lures men into the bars and clubs and keeps the whole free enterprise system moving. And men and women get to meet, drink and socialize. Hmmm, difficult concept for Utah?

And Utah guy is 63. 63! And he begrudges a lady a free drink . . . and a free or reduced price health club membership . . . why not quit separating medical care and just tell the gals to 'walk it off' like the guys? I can see this man gets no social action so he's bitter and doesn't want anyone else to have any fun. He's in Utah -- the No Fun State. Ever been there on a Sunday?

There are so many issues where he could really apply himself, why does he bothering any one else about what they do. Homelessness. Child abuse. Environmental issues. Even smaller issues like littering would have a more positive outcome and a direct effect on people and the environment than going to Las Vegas and making a pest of himself.

This man is alone . . . A LOT . . . and his brain is seeping out his ears, trying to escape an isolated existence that pretty much guarantees him NEVER getting lucky. He has no social skills. He cannot interest a woman, he cannot hold her attention. He CAN garner media attention by displaying his ugly side. No wonder he's bitter.
Octavia (Yes, that's her real name!) is a busy gal in Las Vegas, NV. From New York City parents and Texas birth, she began in the best of both worlds, literate and comical. Extensive US family travel in her younger years, now she's on her third passport and numerous cars driven to pieces in the name of wanderlust. The Big O settled in Las Vegas, which she compares to running away to join the circus - IT'S FUN! Comedy and alternative thinking come easily. When she's not writing, she sings, she writes songs, produces her own CDs, attracted to shiny objects, looks stunning at renaissance festivals across the country and is only stopped by lack of time for all the projects she has in mind. What a woman!

The only fact I might dispute here is that he had enough brains in his skull to seep out of his ears. Otherwise I am forced based on years of observation that your general inferences about men are correct. On the sheer ignorant and stupid front however I think there are plenty of similarly like minded women backing their uneducated, self absorbed men. Nice work.

Great thoughts. I'm working on something about women and equality -- means all equal. Not just when they feel like it equal. Like catching their own spiders. But that's another article . . .
