He Was Hard Boiled With A Heart Of Gold . . .

Men like him only come along once in a blue moon. It was time for that moon. I was edgy, it was all that pent-upped tension, with no where to go.
I did what I could -- cleaned everything, sorted everything, dumped everything that would fit into a medium-sized-mid-priced-recycled-plastic receptical on sale that week in one of many designer colors. I highly doubted that Yyes St Laurent used that shade of boys-bathroom-green from the 50s, but it's not like I knew this guy. No matter what he designed for women, he always showed up in an ill-fitting black suit.
I was waiting. I was always waiting. Three ways to contact me and he was in a holding pattern. That proverbial carrot on a stick. A lan line. A mobile phone. An email. My fax machine wasn't on-line yet -- maybe that was it, yea, that was it . . .
He was waiting. Eating peanuts with chop stix would be faster. What was he waiting for? My hair wasn't getting any redder, I wasn't getting any taller, traffic wasn't getting any faster. Fast? I could be with him. He's the kinda guy worth waiting for -- sharp, classy, funny, available. Not sneaking out of the the house available but ready, willing and able. A lady would leave her knickers at home before going to a party with that man. With any luck, he'd leave his bun warmers behind and I'd find out later, while he's picking out shrimp from the buffet table. I like going for that private body frisk, gives us both a thrill.
Hard boiled? Only on the outside. But inside he's squishy, easy to hold, nice and warm, wit so sharp I could cut an old carpet to ribbons and use it for dental floss. Men's Warehouse? No dice, all they have there are suits.
I'm holding on to this man . . . but you have to show some Moxie, some gumption, something that sets you apart from the herd. I may be a stand-alone woman, but a shoulder could be awfully nice to lean on.
